Easy Recipes for the Microwave

Quite often we use the microwave for heating or defrosting but not for cooking. Today we would like to prepare 3 simple and traditional recipes using the Microwave.

Ensure that the recipient used for cooking in the microwave is suitable (glass, porcelain, plastic). Most dishes would have a logo showing a microwabe on the base of the dish to indicate that it is ok to use.  Please do not use Metal, as it could damage the microwave.

Below are 3 traditional recipes to cook in the microwave:

FRIED EGGS

Ingredients:

- 1 Egg per person

- Olive Oil

- Salt

- Salsa Brava Ferrer

 

  1. Pour a little Olive Oil in the recipient and add the Eggs, trying not to damage the yolk.  With the help of a fork or cocktail stick gently poke the yolk. Add Salt.
  2. Cook in the microwave for 30 seconds .  If you like them less runny, cook for a further 5 seconds.
  3. Finally, to add a little spiciness to the Fried Egg add a some Salsa Brava Ferrer!

BBQ Chicken Wings

Ingredients (2 people)

- 500 g Chicken wings

- Salsa Barbeque Ferrer

- 2 tbsp Sesame seeds

 

  1. Wash and pat dry the Chicken wings. Add Salsa Barbeque Ferrer and Sesame seeds until all the wings are well marinated.
  2. Place them in a microwave dish and leave it to rest for 30 minutes.
  3. Once the Wings are marinated, cook them at 900W as follows:
  • 9 minutes in Microwave mode
  • 11 minutes in Grill mode

The BBQ Chicken wings are now ready!

Chickpeas with Monkfish

Ingregients  (2 people)- 500g Chickpeas Ferrer

- 500 g Monkfish fillets

- 1 Onion

- 200g Tomato Sauce Ferrer

- 50 ml White Wine

- 3 tbsp Olive Oil

- Saffron

- Salt

- Black Pepper

- Parsley

 

  1. Peal and finely chop the Onion.
  2. In a separate bowl mix the Tomato Sauce Ferrer and the white wine. Add salt and a pinch of saffron. Cook it in the microwave at 900W for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the chickpeas, onion and mix well. Cook in the microwave at 900W for 5 more minutes.
  4. Add the Monkfish fillets and cover. Cook in the microwave at 900W for a further 2 minutes.
  5. Let it rest for 2 minutes. Serve with a sprinkle of fresh parsley.

Finally here is a tip on how to clean the inside of the microwave:

Add a glass of water and juice of 1 lemon in a bowl.  Place it in the centre of the microwave and cook for 4 minutes, letting the steam flow around the inside of the microwave.   Remove the bowl and with a clean cloth, wipe the dampness and any unclean areas.
